We’re well into the New Year, but I’m still remembering how much fun we had celebrating with the homeless kids who live at the Hope for Children International School.

We packed the kids into a bus and drove to Kigali to see the Christmas lights. What a joy to see the excitement in their eyes as they marveled at the bright displays. I wish I understood the language better so I could have truly experienced their amazement—I’ve been told by our translator that they couldn’t believe their good fortune. At the end of the night, Daniel grabbed my hand and said, “Thank you for showing us our country!”

Most of the kids had never been outside of their rural village in Bugesera, where the school is located. They travel only as far as their feet will take them—they have no idea what their country, or the world, looks like beyond the village where they were born.

It’s still incredible to me how a small and kind gesture, like a bus ride, can hugely impact the lives of these kids. And I’m so thankful for friends, like you, who help make it all possible.

Hope for Children International School is truly changing the lives of these kids. Our school educates nearly all of the 130 sponsored children and houses the homeless kids who have nowhere else to go.

Thank you for helping these children learn about the love of Jesus and to receive an education that will open doors to future success. And thank you for giving to help raise the additional $2,000 we need for the next five months to cover the government-mandated wage increase for our teachers.

I thank God every day for his continued provision for Hope for Children Ministries through friends like you.

In Him,
