The Rwandan government does not require that children attend school, and in order for children to attend an overcrowded, government-sponsored school they must have a school uniform, shoes and school supplies. For a majority of our sponsored children, that’s often an unreachable requirement. That’s why we opened Hope for Children International School in October 2021!
Every sponsored child has the opportunity to attend Hope for Children International School, regardless of economic status. Children receive a Christ-centered, high quality education that equips them for future success and inspires them to impact the world for Christ.
We offer a new grade level every year to accommodate the advancing grades. We have an eight-year building plan that includes four buildings, a kitchen, and a dining hall. We invite you to help us make that plan a reality so we can provide the best learning experience possible for the children. And now it’s time for us to shine even brighter and expand our footprint on the hill.
We need another building by April 2025 to accommodate our current students as they progress in age and grade level.
To be honest, this feels like more than we can accomplish—it always does. That’s when I breathe deeply and remind myself how God has proven to me time and again that there’s no stopping His plans. So, once again, I trust Him to work through friends like you to accomplish His work.
We have a goal to raise $150,000 for the first building before year-end.
Beyond housing eight new classrooms for the children progressing in grade level, the new building will include an expanded library, modern toilet facilities, parenting classes, and trade training for local community members.
