Being home with family and friends was so wonderful and I cherished every moment. It’s always hard to leave, but God continues to draw my heart to the children in Rwanda.
The first morning back, I awoke early and was excited to start the day—to introduce Lambert to his sponsors, Tim and Julie.
Lambert was an outsider. He had seen the sponsored kids coming and going from Hope for Children and yearned to be a student. One day, he came to me, all washed up and wearing his best clothes to make a simple plea. I asked him what he wanted, and he said, “I want to learn.”
When I shared his story in an update, Julie, being a teacher, saw his love for learning and responded to the tug in her heart to become Lambert’s sponsor.
Lambert is doing well in school—in fact, he’s one of the top in his class. He loved having the chance to meet Julie and Tim and thank them for giving him the opportunity to learn. It was a joy to see Julie and Lambert sitting together reading to each other and knowing how Lambert's life has changed because of his sponsors. It’s priceless, and it’s exactly what Hope for Children was designed to do!
Our guests have gone home, but ministry continues.
The school year begins soon, a team of 11 are coming in September, and a team of six are coming near the end of November. God continues to draw hearts to this place on the other side of the world.
I know it is because of Him so many people are reaching out to be the hands and feet of Jesus to these kids as they so generously give of their time, talents and finances.
Thank you for giving to help us continue the work God has for us. I’m so thankful for you.
God bless,
