I have a confession. The back-to-school season has always been a favorite time of year for me. You might think it was because I was ready to put some distance between me and my kids after spending the summer together, but that’s not the reason. The truth is, I love shopping for school supplies. I love the whole process—preparing the supply list, heading to the store, and then browsing through all the school supplies so nicely arranged in the aisles.

Yes, shopping for school supplies was—and still is—a yearly highlight!

So, you’d think I would be off the charts thrilled that I now have the opportunity to provide school supplies for the 120 kids at the Hope for Children International School, and for another 900 children in the community as part of our responsibility as a non-governmental organization!

I am, but there’s just one problem. I can’t buy the supplies here in America and ship them to Rwanda because it’s too costly. That means, I have to buy the supplies in Rwanda, where it’s a bit more challenging. Not anything I’m not ready to tackle, but I sure could use your help!

Would you consider a donation to help me provide notebooks, boxes of paper, geometry kits, and other items by August 15?

I’m hoping to raise $6,000 to provide all the needed school supplies. Anything above the need will be used to cover the additional funds we need through September to cover an unexpected government-mandated teacher wage increase. (Only two more months to go!)

As I’ve mentioned before, the kids who attend Hope for Children International School come from poverty. They are lucky to have the opportunity to attend school, much less new school supplies.

Any amount you give will help us get the kids back to school and ready for the new year! Thank you for considering a back-to-school gift by August 15. And thank you for your prayers.

God bless,

My gift for back-to-school
